FIRST Robotics Competition

What is FIRST Robotics?

We can let FIRST explain it best:

"We call FIRST Robotics Competition the ultimate Sport for the Mind. High-school student participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.”

Under strict rules, limited time and resources, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with an exciting FIRST Championship."

FRC 2024 CRESCENDO Game Animation

Each year FIRST releases a game animation along with the handbook, showing an animation about the basics of the game. This serves as a good way to show the game off to friends and family without going into major details with the handbook!

FRC 2023 Einsteins Final 2

This is the final 2023 Charged Up! match, the last finals match on the Einstein field at the World Championships!

How do competitions work?

Each team goes to at least two events each year, called District events. If the team qualifies they can proceed to State and World level events. A competition typically consists of showing up the Friday before the event to set up your team's pit, then Saturday and Sunday are competition days where teams compete in qualifying matches and playoff matches before hopefully winning the competition!
